This is a fully differentiated lesson aimed at teaching the new AQA GCSE Biology and Trilogy Biology specification, and links to microscope and cells.

This lesson has 5 learning objectives that are structured in the IDEAL format:

*Identify the key parts to a light microscope.

*Describe the job of each part of the microscope.

*Explain how to calculate the magnification of an image using a light microscope.

*Apply your understanding of resolution and limits to describe what makes an image clear at high magnifications.

*Link ideas of limits of a light microscope to explain why we are unable to distinguish between two atoms.

This lesson is designed with a challenge objective and challenge questions throughout to stretch your most able students, whilst supporting your LA students.

Review the lesson before teaching to see how the animations and objectives will work in your lesson.
