This resource is a fully differentiated lesson aimed at teaching the new GCSE Physics and Trilogy Physics specification, and links to the Energy and Energy resources module.

This lesson has 5 learning objectives that are structured in the IDEAL format:

• Identify forms of useful and waste energy.

​

• Describe the useful and wasted energy by reading Sankey diagrams.

​

• Explain the energy transfers in a system by producing a Sankey diagram.

​

• Apply calculation to work out the efficiency of a device.

​

• Link ideas of design to explain how you could improve the efficiency of a device.
